With a clear goal in mind, Symantec put lots of functions together when it came up with Norton Utilities. That goal was to get rid of all the things that weigh down your PC and cause it to be sluggish. If your PC lost part of its performance, Norton Utilities can bring it back. This application can tune up and speed up your PC.

The system requirements for running Norton Utilities on a PC powered by Windows Vista or a newer Windows edition are: 1GHz processor or better, 1GB of RAM memory or more (2GB or more for 64-bit Windows editions), 100MB of free disk space, SVGA (1024 x 768) video, internet connection (to activate the product and to get updates).

There are five tabs at the top of the application’s interface:
Dashboard – system health overview, performance info, launch 1-Click Optimization, and more.
Performance – clean and compact the Registry, defragment your disks, optimize the Windows operating system, boost startup times.
Privacy – remove data that might put your privacy in jeopardy, data such as your browsing history for example.
Recovery – recover lost files, repair drives, find duplicates, and more.
Settings – play with numerous settings and customize the way the application works.

The simplest way to boost your PC’s performance is to use the 1-Click Optimization feature. The following features are included by 1-Click Optimization: clean the Windows Registry, remove files that put your privacy in jeopardy, apply preset optimizations to speed up Windows, defragment disks, check for unused applications.

There is a lot you can do with Norton Utilities: fix Registry problems, compact the Windows Registry, defragment disks, optimize Windows, boost startup times by disabling applications that run at startup, clear Windows history, clear browsing history, clear 3rd-party software traces, shred files, permanently remove deleted files, recover lost files, find duplicate files, analyze and repair drives, restore the Registry from a backup, uninstall applications, schedule scans to be performed automatically.

All this functionality is offered for free only for a trial period of 30 days. Once this trial period is over, you will have to get a license to keep using Norton Utilities.

Lots of useful functionality is provided to you by Norton Utilities. And from the user friendly interface, you can easily access it and use it to give your machine a speed boost.

Pros

Modern PCs will have no problems meeting this application’s system requirements. You will quickly figure out the Norton Utilities interface. There’s a handy 1-Click optimization feature. There are lots of things you can do with Norton Utilities: fix Registry problems, shred files, recover lost files, uninstall applications, and more.

Cons

30-day trial.
